I decided to sort them into vacuum storage bags that I purchased on the advice of my mom. I had heard that they were a great space-saver and since our house has limited storage, I figured I'd give it a try. After sorting the clothing according to size, sealed the bags and used our vacuum to remove the air, and presto! I figure I was able to compress the clothes into one-third the space! I slid the bags underneath a spare bed and now have space in the closet for all her new clothes! If you're not quite ready to part with old baby clothes and you're looking to save some space, think about buying some vacuum storage bags as a solution.
Where to buy: Department stores (Walmart and Canadian Tire)
Cost: $10.00 for a package of 3 bags (that's all I needed for the clothes in the picture)
Level of difficulty (out of 5): 1
Time to do: 1 hour (includes organizing clothes)
Tips: Make sure your vacuum is cleaned out completely, this is important to avoid any dust from blowing into the bag. You can also vacuum up some baking soda so it goes through the hose. You can also include a label in the bag so you can easily identify the size of the clothing.
